I'm pleased to announce that my poem "Tongue and Bone" will be published in the next edition of Alligator Juniper. It's a fairly long poem about food, cows, and my grandmother, and one of my favorites of those I've written recently.

Olympic Logo Design

Great, short article from Fast Company on some of the dismal design of Olympics logos. They're not all terrible, and I get that the brief is challenging – represent both an international event and your specific country and/or city, respect the historic tradition and also Be Modern!, etc. – but you'd think that with the budget the committee has got to be working with they could've come up with something better on some of these. At least they dropped the Roman numerals. Personally, I think games we hosted have both the worst and best of the collection.

Not bad, right?

Farm to Fork Fondo series 2016

I was excited to work with Tyler again on the 2016 series of his Farm to Fork Fondo events. These are bike events that take place all over the East coast and incorporate local farms and food into stops along the way and a celebration at the end. Each location has a variety of length/difficulty options, from a short "Ramble Ride" to the 100-mile Gran Fondo. Last year I did the brochure for Vermont; this year, there's one big brochure for the whole series.

It was really fun to put together; with some fabulous photography and snippets about each farm, I felt like I got to know the different regions just through the design process.

A new element this year was the addition of a few recipes featuring seasonal products. I particularly enjoyed laying these out and I think they turned out nicely.

Two new articles out: one for Vermont's Local Banquet on whey-fed pork in Vermont (and beyond), and a short piece for ACORN's 2016 Local Food Guide on the perception of high prices in local food.

The summer issue of Local Banquet is fun and informative (as always) – in addition to my piece there's a great one about butter and another about new potatoes which I love. Check it out!
