Poetry Month events
I’m reading in four places in April!
Sunday April 12, 4–6 pm, Town Hall Theater, Middlebury with the ZigZag Lit Mag issue release party.
Wednesday April 15, 6–8 pm, Radio Bean, Burlington with Elaine Pentaleri’s book launch.
Saturday April 18, 5–7 pm, Red Clover Ale, Brandon. A poetry open mic with readings from three featured poets: myself, Ben Aleshire, and Clare Welsh. Bring a poem of your own and a poem to share!
Clare Welsh is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Pennsylvania. Her images and words have been published in The Sun, The Los Angeles Review,The New York Times, and elsewhere. She is an editor at large for Fine Print Paper.
Benjamin Aleshire was born and raised in Rutland County, VT. His writing has appeared in The Times of London, Iowa Review, Southern Review, and an excerpt of his novel in progress POET FOR HIRE was featured at Lit Hub. He is the recipient of a James Merrill fellowship from the Vermont Studio Center, a Bread Loaf waiter-scholarship, a Creation Grant from the Vermont Arts Council, and a Goldwater Fellowship from NYU. His debut manuscript POEMS FOR BYSTANDERS was a finalist for prizes from Sarabande, Alice James, and Four Way Books. Currently he serves as Creative Director at Aleshire Gallery, a photography cooperative in Brandon, VT.
Wednesday, April 22, 6–7:30 pm, Kellogg-Hubbard Library, Montpelier, with Meg Reynolds’ book tour.
Plus I’m leading a workshop:
Saturday April 25, 2–3:30, Brandon Public Library.
Dear Spring: A generative poetry workshop. In this workshop we will explore the epistolary form, poems written like letters to someone (or something, like a place, an object, or an idea). This is one of my favorite forms because I find it both playful and revealing; they always take me somewhere unexpected. Space is limited; email info@brandonpubliclibrary.org to register.
